Cannot apply Custom Property to Audience in MOSS 2007

Last week I created a custom user property. The idea was to create an audience filtering with this custom property. After I created this property, I ran a full AD import which takes around 10 to 12 hours to complete for our farm. After the AD import was completed, I checked the value for this property for a few users and confirmed that the values have been populated.
